In the first half of Saturday's double header. Stephen went 6 innings giving up one run on two hits, walked 3 and struck out 5 to get the team's 3-1 victory. While it was another strong outing for him, Stephen indicated that the high heat and humidly made his afternoon "a bit of a grind". "I felt that I wasn't totally on today. And while the ball felt a little strange coming out of my hand, I was able to keep it low in the zone so I knew I'd be alright... I still hit my spots." Stephen has surrendered just two runs in his last 22 innings of work effectively dropping his ERA to 3.4

"I think that's the reason why we were able to win the first half was our pitching," Ryan said. "Our pitching and defense has been outstanding. Tarpley for us tonight was spectacular. He was locating all three of his pitches. He wanted the ball in this situation and he showed up tonight for us."
