With access to his arsenal starting in the 4th and full access in innings 5 through 7, Tarpley and pitching Coach Marcus Clapp were able to work into a good rhythm that kept batters guessing and off the base-pads. But by then it was a bit late, Stephen ended up yielding 4 runs (two earned) to Gateway CC on a day that saw him exhibit excellent control walking only two and throwing 82 strikes out of 116 pitches. Coach Cherney is working hard to get his pitching staff some much need run support from a team whose bats have gone cold over the past couple weeks. "Nasty on the Way"... Stephen Tarpley extending Scottsdale's wining record to 15-4 Stephen pitched a solid 6 inning shutout and picked up his second win this afternoon vs. Glendale CC. His fastball reportedly bumped 95 several times. 1st pitch strikes were up this game while his average pitches thrown per inning went down along with his ERA which now drops to 1.50. Stephen is currently treating his opponents to a .126 batting average! |
